TCS and BSNL Join Forces in Rs 15,000 Crore Deal to Boost India's 4G Connectivity

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to enhance mobile connectivity across India in a landmark Rs 15,000-crore partnership with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). This strategic move aims to roll out a robust 4G network, potentially revolutionizing internet speeds and paving the way for 5G capabilities.

Expanding Connectivity in Rural India

As part of the initiative, TCS and BSNL plan to extend high-speed 4G services to over 1,000 villages, significantly improving mobile internet quality in rural areas. This effort will also establish seamless communication networks to enhance administrative efficiency and accessibility across the country.

Building the Infrastructure

TCS is setting up extensive data centers in four regions to support the 4G infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation and future-proofing the network for 5G. BSNL has already installed over 9,000 towers and plans to expand 4G services to an additional 100,000 sites by August 2024.

Collaborative Efforts for Future Readiness

In addition to TCS, Tejas Networks and ITI are also key players in this initiative, working together to deploy a scalable 4G network that can transition to 5G. The combined efforts of these companies represent orders totaling nearly Rs 19,000 crore.

This collaboration is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide in India.
